LouisComfort Tiffany , 1848-1933 , artist , designer and
craftsman had enormous influence on the decorative arts during
the early part of the twentieth century. Demand for stained glass
windows in America was fuelled by religious energy combined with
an increasingly large and wealthy middle class whose prosperity
was partly used to adorn their homes with beautiful objects.
His legacy is best seen today in the huge interest and development
of work in stained glass. Many of his most stunning windows still
remain . So also do the lampshades which today have given rise
to a whole industry working with the ideas that he initiated.
The original lampshades now sell for seven figure sums which
is testament to the unique quality of craftsmanship to be found
in them.
At The Peter Baker Art Glass Company we take meticulous care
in individually making our lampshades to a quality which reflects
the brilliance of the original Tiffany lampshades.
